Manic Street Preachers

Pardon my ignorance folks, but I don't know a lot of their music, and it is typical of me to only discover some their stuff a yew years after it is released. I do that a lot.
I quite like "If you tolerate this then your children will be next".... can anyone recommend more songs to me?
Thanx.

Well though I like that song, I don't like the album it's on (This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours)... My favourite records are The Holy Bible, a dark and political record, very much rocking and Everything Must Go, which is more pop-orientated...
Favourite songs: "The Small Black Flowers that Grow in the Sky", "Archives of Pain", "She's Suffering", "Ocean Spray", "Judge Y'rself", "Faster"...
I don't like what I heard of the new album, Lifeblood, but most people don't seem to agree with me, so...

And look at these threads as well:

Manics are amazing- one of the most underrated bands ever [especially in NA].

Orpheus is right about This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours being a relatively shite album, despite it being home to one of their greatest songs, "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next" and a few other gems. theres juste too much on there that will put you fast asleep.

hes wrong however in suggesting that their new album, Lifeblood, is anything less than amazing. it is arguably their best ever [the other side of that argument being The Holy Bible- two very different records].

rightnow, id rank their albums like this:

Lifeblood [2004]
The Holy Bible [1994]- tenth anniversary edition juste released
Know Your Enemy [2001]
Genneration Terrorists [1992]
Gold Against The Soul [1993]
Everything Must Go [1996]
This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours [1998]

You'd rank Everything Must Go that low? I find it one of their best... Gold against the Soul is only so-so and Generation Terrorists and Know Your Enemy are just too long and not everything on them is top notch... and alright, I'll check Lifeblood

yeah, iwould. ilov Know Your Enemy and Genneration Terrorists despite them being overlong [ifind idont mind the length on Know Your Enemy at all, but Genneration Terrorists does seem to drag a bit at the end]. ithink everything on Know Your Enemy is great and id only throw away 2 or three from Genneration Terrorists ["Repeat [UK]" being a definite trash].

there are three tracks off Gold Against The Soul that id do away with- "Drug Drug Druggy", "Symphony Of Tourette" and the title track- leaving only seven tracks, but ilov those seven tracks. the singles off that album are easily among their best songs ever.

idont dislike Everything Must Go, ijuste dont like it as much as the others. ilike everything on it but it somehow doesnt do it for me the same way as the other albums do. maybe if iwere being more fair id put it as high as fourth above Genneration Terrorists and Gold Against The Soul, but ive been really into those two albums of late [thats why included the modifier "rightnow" when listing them]. idont think id ever personally rank it above Know Your Enemy. Know Your Enemy was my first Manics album to own [not the first to hear, but to own] so it will always hav a special place for me because of that. ialso maintain that it is a highly underrated album deserving of another spin by all those who listened to the critics in 2001.
