Sorry to rehash old topics....

I picked up a promo copy of Draft 7.30 (Autechre) on ebay. When Warp released the album, the promo was only available on cassette.

It really does sound so much better. Ironically I can hear stuff that I never picked up before having listened to it several times on CD and MD. The rhythms make much more sense, if you see what I mean. The samples fit in well with each other and there's a much better flow to the album

Autechre talk about mastering the album so that it would sound better on cassette, a sort of reminiscene of their mispent yoof. Also warp were paranoid about illegal copies being distributed before the release date. If this is true, then I think I got a rareity (trumpet's at the ready!)

All for £3 (about $5)......one man's ignorance is another man's gain I suppose.....

wow, so interesting. i remember hearing about the cassette issue as well (was it the interview with Rob Brown?). congrats on a great find! i find it quite interesting that there is such a difference..but that's wonderful. hope there will be a way for me to pick up one myself.

my disc is screwed up majorly..it will skip around to random places on the album within different tracks without changing the actual track number..maybe i have some kind of rarity as well!

yeah, i remember when the cassette was around months in advance of the album. It was going for 30-40 dollars a pop at the time. It's amazing how autechre fans just can't wait
