Thanks for the background fellas. The documentary I saw covered alot of this stuff. His stripped down, simple, almost vulnerable style. I heard he often let other band members do the complex soloing, for instance Coltrane did alot of that. I have really no idea how to interpret jazz, but just by listening to his material it seems he had alot of spacing in his songs, which was great because it allowed the notes to really sink in.

I wasn`t truly impressed before I got Bitches Brew, have you heard it? There`s no sinking in there, it`s just a firework.

Just curious, what had you heard before Bitches Brew, Haakon?

Kind Of Blue and Sketches Of Spain . I like them, but they aren`t truly amazing to me like Bitches Brew. I like my jazz to be that way, and I think maybe NDF also is expecting this kind of music from the great man.

Interesting, since most people tend to hate Bitches Brew and love Kind of Blue!

(( Bitches Brew isn't really one of my favorites, but it's definitely a "Milestone" ))

I'm am glad that you like some of his music though.

This is natural as Kind Of Blue is very accessible jazz, but I had hoped for something more challenging from Miles when I started exploring his music, and I got that from Bitches Brew.

I`m glad I like it too

I would say that the people that hate Bitches Brew are the purists that don't believe that "fusion" is jazz.

Chick Corea always kind of bored me...but I like Josef Zawinul. Why? Don't know.
