Songs that Sound like Other songs

Was listening to the radio tonite and heard a new Collective Soul song "Counting the Days", and the guitar riff in it sounds suprisingly like Metallica's 'King Nothing'... and I thought ti might be a cool thread.. so what songs are out there that you tihnk sound like other songs... I'm not talking about the ones that have been settled in court either (ie - ray parker jr. vs huey lewis and the news, or the verve vs the rolling stones/the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra) im talking songs that when you heard them you thought.. "wait isn't that..."

One that got brought up here on a another thread by someone was The Offspring 'Hey Man Why Don't You Get a Job' and the Beatles 'Ob la di ob la da'...

yeah that was one of my old rants about the offspring

they're pretty bad though they've 'borrowed' more than a few riffs aside from the already mentionned 'get a job'. 'self esteem' borrows a VERY similar riff to smells like teen spirit. and there's one song on 'ixnay on the hombre' that sounds like a weak version of 'idiot's rule' by jane's addiction. only the offspring didn't have the balls to add horns to their music and both of their guitar players put together can't match up to dave navarro's skill and style.

lately i've been noticing a lot of similar vocal melodies within different songs. the words aren't the same but the way they sound while they're being sung is very similar to other songs.

the part in 'vertigo' by U2 that ends with 'swinging to the music' always reminds me of 'pink cadillac' by aretha franklin. the chorus to avril lavinge's 'complicated' always leads my brain to 'hold on' by wilson phillips. 'you're pussy's glued to a building on fire' by john frusciante sounds to me like his smacked up take on elton john's 'tiny dancer'.

I know I've mentioned this a long, long time ago, but "LBVD" by Abandoned Pools sounds frighteningly like "The Everlasting Gaze" by Smashing Pumpkins. The guitar riff is practically the same and the shift in mood is pretty much the same too.

and the main riff in smells like teen spirit is just a sloppy version of Boston's "more than a feeling"

No, smells like teen spirit is taken from the opening in ''Godzilla'' by Blue Oyster Cult.

'Come As You Are' by Nirvana took the bassline off of one of Killing Joke's songs but the band apologized and Killing Joke said they didn't care...I think they said they were happy to influence bands.

APC's Pet and Bodies like sheep to the rythm of the war drum, sound alike lyrically.
