Marilyn Manson is about as good of a musician as Britney Spears, and even that's giving him a little bit too much credit.

Estradasphere, the cd "Buck Fever" is pretty diverse, you might like it if you like Mr. Bungle.

yeah i've been meaning to pick up some estradasphere. they're more of a trey spruance side project though (he was the guitar player in mr. bungle). you might also dig the secret chiefs3 if you're enjoying estradasphere, SC3 started as a mr. bungle side project to keep the guys busy while patton was touring with faith no more but by the 3rd album trevor dunn was busy working on the fantomas album and the SC3 became another trey spruance deal, they generally have more of a middle eastern vibe but i haven't heard the latest release yet though.

I'll get some SC3 soon, did you hear that new Fantomas yet panbient?

panbient 11-10-2004 09:39 PM

i'm guessing you mean delerium cordia. i gave it a full listen through, once, it was OK, good for an ambient soundtrack, but i still like 'the director's cut' best.

Well, I'd say there's more diversity in a single Mr. Bungle song than the entire Faith No More catalogue...but that's just me! haha

Led Zeppelin.

What other hard rock acts had such a deep catalogue, ranging from high powered blues to soft folk?

I've been getting into SC3 again. I'm a little more partial to the second album, actually. Book of Horizons is a good album , although I haven't listened to it a ton. There really aren't any surprised anymore, per se. Listening to them reminds me just how big a factor Spruance was on Disco Volante - there are times I am practically expecting Mike Patton to bust in doing something crazy with his voice...

Estradashpere I never could get much into. I did try. They are clearly talented through the roof, they do come up with some interesting melodies and song structures, and some of their songs are even great. They are a bit like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - another band I've "been meaning" to check out at least one more time, one of these days.

I wish I agreed with the sentiment that genre-shattering bands got signed to major labels and showed up every few years; I'd feel a hell of a lot better about the music scene if I did. Most of the other replies got the bands I'd be able to rattle off my head (thanks guys :)), Marilyn Manson wasn't on the list but I'd go with most of the others.

I guess it's a matter of opinion.

I haven't actually heard Mr. Bungle at all.
