I've been getting into SC3 again. I'm a little more partial to the second album, actually. Book of Horizons is a good album , although I haven't listened to it a ton. There really aren't any surprised anymore, per se. Listening to them reminds me just how big a factor Spruance was on Disco Volante - there are times I am practically expecting Mike Patton to bust in doing something crazy with his voice...
Estradashpere I never could get much into. I did try. They are clearly talented through the roof, they do come up with some interesting melodies and song structures, and some of their songs are even great. They are a bit like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - another band I've "been meaning" to check out at least one more time, one of these days.
I wish I agreed with the sentiment that genre-shattering bands got signed to major labels and showed up every few years; I'd feel a hell of a lot better about the music scene if I did. Most of the other replies got the bands I'd be able to rattle off my head (thanks guys :)), Marilyn Manson wasn't on the list but I'd go with most of the others.
