Thumbs up "Archive"

Man I love this band! I started listenning to them a few weeks ago, about the same time I started my thread for "trippy music to fall asleep to". Yes they put me out every night, no more sleep deprivation, no pills, no booze, no blows to the head!

My suggestions: - Again
- Dark Room
- You Make Me Feel

Then again I love them all! Especially tracks from the "You all look the same to me" CD.

Here's some independant reviews:

What we have here?Mixed rock with trip hop.A double CD album from Archive, perfect.A trip to trip hop beats, rock guitars sounds, samples, lullabies and very good vocals. Melodies! The first CD includes 10 songs and the second 4.An amazing 16:19m of "Again" and the rock version of "Numb" are between them. Also you can get connected to Archive's website and access exclusive contents.Just insert the 1st CD at your cd-rom while you are online. The booklet is not something special but who cares when the songs are good. For SURE one of the best albums of the year!

Chronique :
Encore…

This is surely every reviewers worst nightmare - an opening track that lasts just shy of sixteen and a half minutes. Worse still this downbeat epic is not the longest song on the seven-track epic that is You All Look The Same To Me.

Taking this into consideration it doesn't take a genius to realise that Archive don't do three-minute blasts of guitar pop - thankfully they don't veer into prog-rock esque self-indulgent territory either. So what do they do? Well, most of the songs here build up (normally rather slowly) from an ambient opening, integrating more and more weird and wonderful instruments as the clock ticks on. And as you'd expect with tracks as long as 17 minutes, Archive are not afraid to experiment - warped beats and eerie samples sit perfectly happily alongside the standard guitar/bass/drums setupon many of the track here, most notably the sublime Finding It So Hard.

Ok, so this record won't win you over straight away. You'll need to give it plenty of time and perhaps put your prejudices aside for while but if you do it may well be a rewarding experience. I'm certainly surprised how much I enjoyed it on the third or fourth listen and I would imagine that it's something I'm going to investigate further in the future. 7/10

do you realise how crappy it is to search for a term like 'archive' on a program like soulseek? but i did manage to get 'again'... i like it... very pink floyd-ish... personally i'd rather hear more emphasis on the music rather than the words though... but i will look for more...
