Johnny Cash

Probably not a popular discussion here but does anyone like Johnny Cash? I was a bit of a fan of him when he was alive but since he died I discovered loads of his albums and now he's one of my favourite artists.

I guess that there are many Cash fans, many of them even being less drunk than me even! but maybe you'd better look in the country forum!

I remember I heard 'Live at San Quentin' for the first time after a morning Listening to Led Zeppelin II.

It did NOT suffer for the comparison!

My mom had a lot of those old Sun sides he did and I really loved the big echoey sound of those things. I saw him on t.v. singing "The Man in Black" during the Vietnam war era and he became one of my Hee-Rows. He still was when he died and I was amazed by how many amazing songs the guy did. Yeah, Columbia put out some crapola too but my d.j.'s avoided that stuff.

As American as Mount Rushmore. His best music sounds pretty timeless to me.

The Man in Black is Da Man!

So, Elvis, what are your thought's on your daughter Lisa Marie sellig the Elvis estate (basically everything but Graceland and a few other things) off?

I don't know about you Elvis, but if it was me, I would be rising from the dead or getting back from your 7-11 job. Are you still working at 7-11 or are you now the manager at Denny's. Have lost track of all your sightings.

Never seen the film, but if he's talking about a white horse then that's what the song's called - when the man comes around. That's one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs.

I only own three Cash records, but I really adore his style -- I can't get over that voice; "haunting" would be a good descriptor, I guess. I like his stripped down, emotionally-charged approach, and unique persona. A+
