Pierre Henry vs. Pierre Schaeffer
Two of the most important musique concrete innovators...given their individual innovations and their output, who do you prefer to listen to?

I prefer Henry over Schaeffer, and the fact that Henry still makes music (of course Schaeffer can't, maybe there are posthumous releases like Tupac ). His stuff just seems more eerie, and that's why I like it.

I agree -- with a recorded output as large as Henry's is, and with such consistant quality, I had to go with him...

I listened to "mecanoid" once and it just didn't do it for me. Maybe I should drag it out again.

Actually, I gotta go with Pierre Schaeffer, though I prefer to think of Schaeffer and Henry as collaborators rather than competitors. I recommend the three-CD set Pierre Schaeffer L'ouevre Musicale (Electronic Music Foundation) which includes an entire CD of Schaeffer-Henry collaboration.

Yeah, L'ouevre Musicale is great!
And I didn't really mean this to suggest that they were in competition with one another, I was just wondering which artist you prefer as a composer.

I'll vote for pierre bastien too. Even if his musique isn't concrete.

I see very few care to actually vote for one of the two choices given...
All good artists, however...
