Current 93's earlier stuff is more typical industrial, anything released before 1986 is that kind of thing. They started off with a tape-loop, clanging and scary noise sound, then went into their apocalyptic folk phase, before going to more contemplative, piano-led things recently.
Can't wait to hear the new album, "How He Loved the Moon", coming soon on Bectalam Ring Records.

This monday I went to a gig of CocoRosie and this guy Antony & the Johnsons opened... One big, fat gay guy who played piano and has a wonderfully creepy falsetto... He was great and so was CocoRosie, but anyway, I heard that this guy did some stuff with Current 93, anyone has heard it or Antony's own work? Current 93's own work seems interesting too... Too bad I can't download over this connection...

Antony and the Johnsons debut album's pretty good. It's basically Antony on piano and preposterously melodramatic vocals, backed by a string quartet. Really good stuff, the sort of thing I find myself attempting to sing along too in a rather loud unappealing way.
I've got some live C93 CDs with Antony on occasional backing vocals, and he adds a lot to the music, in my opinion. There's a live version of "Whilst the Night Rejoices Profound and Still" with Antony that's just stunning, one of Current 93's finest moments.
*Edit - Who the hell are The Soil Bleeds Black?

Desolated Maggot mentioned them in the folk section... It's sort of medieaval folk... But hard to find apparently... Though they had a site or something...

I like The Soil Bleeds Black, I can send you some if you want Orpheus (on MSN). I don't think they really sound too much like Current 93 though. And yes SBB is Neo-medieval folk. I thikn this is their site - http://www.soilbleedsblack.com/soilbleedsblack/

fine, give me a call whenever you see me on line at RM...
btw what about Sopor Aeternus and Empyrium, two other bands Desolated Maggot mentioned to me... I really like Sopor Aeternus... They're at least a bit darker than The Soil Bleeds Black... Empyrium has some good tracks on While at Night the Wood Grouse Plays, but they're in general in a metal bands, which isn't really my cup of tea...

A piece of the biography of Sopor Aeternus on Allmusic:
"Yet perhaps the most unusual song is a cover version of Kraftwerk's "Das Modell" which she translates into Latin and plays on a baroque harpsichord. "
I like that, has anyone heard this cover?
