Arrow The Carter Family

Anyone have thoughts on these Country pioneers? I'm looking at picking up a boxed collection of their work sometime soon, but I'm interested in hearing the opinions of those better versed in country than I on this group. Favorite recordings / songs? Seen them live, perhaps? (( I don't know when they stopped playing ))

Anyway, I figured that if we're going to have a country forum, we may as well have a thread for the Carter family.

"Wildwood Flower" by Mother Maybelle Carter is a classic.

Hey, I'll listen to anything once...probably twice...I'd think it obvious by now that I have a pretty open mind when it comes to music. If it's an influential, original artist, no matter what the style, I'll give it a listen...

I've only got a few Carter Family songs on a 4CD country music comp. Give me some Merzbow, some fried, twisted Japanese acid noise from hell, but this yodelling and twanging malarky just grates against my very soul.

The Carter family were among the better artists, if that's any kind of recommendation.
