Icarus - Kamikaze

I checked this album out after seeing Equinox's recommendation of it. Godly. How good this is completely caught me completely by suprise. The Photekesque drum programming with the atmospheric pads and basslines and the added glitchy effects, it's quite an experience to listen to. It's exactly what I've been looking for in drum and bass recently, wasn't sure if I'd ever find it. Thanks.

Tirol Op Klompen and Moth completely knock me on my ass.

Edit: And actually, I think I might even hear a few Photek samples. A definite Photek influence, if nothing else.

glad someone finally took my advice after almost a year

Great album indeed, and completely underrated.

Shit, it was the reason why I made the "underrated electronic albums" thread...

icarus are awesome.

ive been an obsessive fan for a good few years..
have you people checked their stuff since then?.. some of the most original and enjoyable electronic music ive heard in a long while...

squid ink takes the photekish thing into incredibly detailed territory
misfits goes very abstract and introduces some more gerenative ideas..
the latest: "i tweet the birdy electric" on leaf sounds like an noodley improv album.. astonishing detail.. unusual, very organic sound sources.. pretty amazing..
their eps are ace too.

theyre r very nice guys aswell

great to see people really into their stuff

their live s set are just something ELSE... always evolving.. sprawling things... amazing.

yeah, I have their whole catalogue. I thought squid ink was a great release but found no type of photek influence within it. I only heard that on "kamikaze". After that album (on FiJaka), I think they wanted to go away from drum n' bass and start producing more abstract things. Six Soviet Misfits is about as abstract as it can come when you think of "IDM" as it is (but what is it really?).
'I tweet the birdy electric' is a good album, but sounds basically like a lot of the stuff that's coming out today, nothing revolutionary. thanks for the comments.

squid ink.. i guess i heard that first and heard minor threads of photek in there on certain tracks... kamikazee is much more overt.

as for the latest.. i beg to differ, i dont hear much at the moment that has the quite same chaotic organic touch

if you do .. please mention them.. as id like to check them out!

for some reason, I think you'd like Manual's "Ascend" album, but then again, i could be wrong.
