Doves

Yeah they are a bit similar to "ColdPlay" but if you are musically inclined I think you will see that hey are better. The music is so much more multi-layered and complete. It just might be a better producer than "Coldplay', but either way they have a nice sound.

If I'm correct, they only have one album out and everything on it is great. But for starters "There goes the pain"
Doesn't sound like Hoover or portishead to me.

They have got two albums. I got their debut when it came out, I searched it out by chance on amazon. What I liked most about them was the production quality, and the instrumentals. The voice was okay, but now when I`ve heard it some times I think some of the songs have a bit too cheesy vocals. It`s basically the special vocals that keep me off the band now.

Cheers,
Haakon

I sampled Doves' only one album in a store a while ago and they sounded okay as far as I remember. but not enjoyable enough for me to spend 20 bucks. I don't think they sound like hooverphonic or portishead at all. darker? no way, I have to disagree.

however, Dot Allison from that group has released 2 albums. I used to have the first one, that one was pretty okay. the new one, I read some reviews about it and they said it is better than the first one... hmmm, I should check that out.

by the way, the most recent hooverphonic album sucks major donkey.

If they sound anything like Radiohead, count me in. (Just got "Amnesiac"! It's great!)

nah, Doves sounds nothing like Amnesiac. I sampled Amnesiac in a record store awhile ago and the weird thing is that I have heard the kind of sound on Amnesiac before. I can't pinpoint where but I know I have heard similar thing before.

If you get one of their CD's, get their first one, Lost Souls. In my opinion it is a lot better than The Last Broadcast. It has a lot more catchy songs on it.
