My collection is about 75% electronic music, but I buy mostly indie and alternative rock now. The whole electronic genre has been disappointing me lately. I keep it all pretty organized on shelves. Right now some of it is in stacks on the floor cuz I've been ripping a few for backups. I try to keep everything alphabetized and I have a number label on almost every CD. I have them all cataloged in a database. Not really sure what I'm trying to accomplish there, but it makes my collection easier to look thru especially since I have some CDs in a lock box.

my collection varies. i have mostly rock. recently indie has begun to appear in it. i dont really have a particular order. i just have my most listened to sutff at the top and my least listened to stuuf at the bottom. not planned, just worked out that way.

i also have a lot on my pc so that is alphabetical just because the pc makes it that way.

i've got all of my cd's (133, i just counted) alphabatized on a spinning rack. i've got all my record label compliations alphabatized after that, then all my burned mixes chronological after that. if i have more than one by the same artist then i order it chronologically. i already have every cd backed up on my computer in mp3 (except for the ones i bought this weekend). i always am taking a pile and putting them all back on the rack because i'm an organizational freak. my mom thinks it's weird i clean my room just for fun.

I buy vinyl. I don't have enough CDs to even make it worth mentioning. Records divided into four secions on a couple different shelves, alphabetically within each section, with multiple artist releases sorted chronologically.

Minimal House/Techno on the first, basically just the stuff I regularly spin with. Drum and Bass on the second. IDM/Ambient/Experimental stuff on the third, and the fourth is a bit of Post-Rock and a couple other things I don't know what to do with.

CDs alphabetically by artist. Then by date of release.
LP's and 45's just all together. It's a mess....
Tapes are even worse. They're not even labelled.

Everyone's so neat and tidy. My CDs are all over the place, I spend ages looking for them.

I really should start putting them in some sort of order.
