jackson might have 1 or 2 albums left in him but since he hasn't released anything really good since 'thriller' back in 1982 i don't think it really matters anymore.

thats not true. hes had at least two huge albums since Thriller- Bad and Dangerous. if yure into Michael Jackson, these are two albums you would at least consider to be "good".

he wasnt sayin that Kylie has been around longer than Michael or Madonna- obviously she hasnt- juste that shes been around for ten years or longer. hes right too.

I guess Robbie Williams will still be around. And of course Madonna...but I guess she doesn't really count.

pop encompasses more than just "pop" music, if you get my meaning. bands such as 'the beatles' were pop music. same with 'led zeppelin' which became pop music after their first album even though their actual genre was rock/blues, they became 'adopted' into pop music once they began selling a whole bunch of albums (like gold status on the first 6 i believe). rolling stones are pop music, david bowie as well. nick cave is slowly becoming pop music (who would have thought it?). and just being in pop music doesn't mean that the artist has 'sold-out' or gone too commercial or something. i mean 'the beatles' were blatantly pop, but they're one of the most important artists of the 20th century (and beyond).

people seem to have a strange view of what pop music really is. it's such a broad "genre" but it's not really a genre either. it's anything that is 'deemed commercial by the public and sells well'. so i would divide music in general into two categories: pop and experimental/avant-garde music, with all their various genres underneath that. so i wouldn't limit just michael jackson and madonna to the only 'pop gods'. where's john lennon? elton john? etc.
