Christian R&B
This thread doesn't exist, and this genre really doesn't exist. Christian music is actually on a popular rise and I just wanted to know how you guys felt about a Christian R&B genre. Would you listen? All opinions are helpful.

Gospel preceded Rythm & Blues and is the fertile soil from which it sprang.

Christian R&B definitely exists, and has existed for decades. Andrae Crouch was doing that sort of thing as far back as the early 70s, and there have been many, many artists who have followed his lead.
And like Algernon said, the gospel music of the black church helped give birth to R&B in the first place.

Yes, I agree, Ithink that gospel and soul and rhythm and blues are all linked, and this pure form of music originated out of the church. Take James Brown for example, he invented soul.
Andrae Crouch and his choir are brilliant too, and they always add a gospel feel to any songs they are on, for example Michael Jackson.

Most of the Christian music I listen to would best be described as either "inspirational" or "adult alternative". Honestly, I don't listen to a lot of R&B. I have some in my record collection, but my primary listening interests lie elsewhere.
Any music genre is a good genre to enter as an upcoming musician if it's what you really are excited about and good at. But it should be something you have a passion for.
I keep wondering about one thing. Why are you interested in "Christian" R&B? Is it because of your spiritual beliefs? Or is there some other reason?

Interesting, your first post is in a thread that no one has posted in over 13 months. Just to ask a poster who hasn't posted in that amount of time, if she believed in Jesus.
What does it matter what she may or may not believe in, anyway?
