Not that her opinion means much, and that shes much different than an ashlee simpson in terms of 'poppiness' but here's what avril said to Billboard.com:

A lot of that is really true i think, but its very similar to your thoughts. The most telling quote she had in the same interview relates to what you said here:

Don't sing on their own records? Milli Vinillis for Generation Next? This doesn't really suprise me, but it really angers me to know good-looking 17 year old girls are getting rich without any particular talent and are feeding off North America's slow decline into pedophilia.
