its definitely one of Morrissey's best- and, by that token, one the best songs period.

well, all most any should do to ensure a merry Christmas, but lets see...

if yure really in love with "Everyday Is Like Sunday" rightnow you cant go wrong with Viva Hate.

ithink You Are The Quarry would look great under any Christmas tree this year, plus a Platinum Edition of the album is being released shortly with an added cd of the nine b-sides from the first three ...Quarry singles [theyre great].

as far as The Smiths, again you cant go wrong, but i'd say either The Queen Is Dead or Strangeways, Here We Come. not only are they the two best Smiths albums, they also fit the mood of winter the best.

You can think that is rediculous all you want, I think it is rediculous that you place Mossissey on such a Pedestal. You are right I was never a huge Smiths Fan, I repect them, I don't mind some of their material, they wrote some great songs, Marr is great. Morrisseys solo work.......well their is only so much jangle I can take and his voice really pisses me off.

I haven't however heard all of his work, kill uncle I didn't like and as for that single that they released in about 1992....what was is....something about "our friends being successful" I hated that song then and although I haven't heard the song since I imagine I would still hate it now. Apart from that I have only heard the odd snipit of morrissey and I haven't really been overly impressed.

if Morrissey's voice really pisses you off than how on earth could you ever appreciate any Smiths songs besides "Oscilate Wildly" or "The Draize Train" [their two instrumentals]. Morrissey's voice is so powerful in everything hes ever done that if you dislike it to that degree then you will dislike any song he's ever sung, no matter how much you lov Marr.

ive said it before, but the best thing about The Smiths was Morrissey, not Marr, and this has been proven by each of their post-Smiths careers. more accurately, the best thing about The Smiths was Moz and Marr together- Morrissey was Marr's muse and without him he could no longer create those wonderful soundscapes that hav made him famous. Morrissey, on the other hand, has proven that he did not need Marr, going on to hav a solo career three times as long and much more successful than that of The Smiths. idont put Morrissey on a pedastal, hes put himself there. Morrissey belongs in the company of all the greatest songwriters and music icons of all-time- Sinatra, Presley, Lennon&McCartney, Dylan, Bowie, Mercury, Bono, etc..

despite you having not heard much of Moz's solo work to make an accurate assessment, im not gonna suggest any listening. if you didnt like Kill Uncle [many Moz fans dont, though its a very clever record] or "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" and whichever other snipets yuve heard along the way, thats fine. imean, if you really hate His Master's Voice, then theres really no point in trying to persuade you. istill cant understand how you can say The Smiths are "good" but Morrissey is "pretty bad" and other incongruncies like "I don't mind some of their material, they wrote some great songs" where in one breath you seem fairly unimpressed and the next completely enthusiastic. but whatever, iguess yule juste always be condemned to contradiction.

oh, bytheway, if there really is "only so much jangle [you] can take", ithought imight let you know that "jangle was Marr's specialty. so why was it again you liked anything The Smiths ever did and dont like Moz-solo?
