94Diskont is one of their best albums. I do like some Oval tracks, but overall I've found them overrated.

I like Therre Thaemlitz from the Instinct ambient collections. Is TT male or female?

well, you can only refer to "them" for a short period of time because Markus Paap has been the sole person in Oval since around the mid90's. I think 94Diskont was the last for the original trio. Terre Thaemlitz is a man. His "soil" and "tranquilizer" on the instinct ambient label, I have to agree with you. Soil is a masterpiece, but his other things on Mille Plateaux just don't really do it for me. Way too experimental and glitchy sometimes.

i liked the Microstoria album "Init Ding." it seemed a bit more mechanical than any of the Oval fuzz.

It does that too, it's just a point.

Look guys, I don't listen to my music for the same motive as some people go running 5 miles every day. I do feel however that this is why IDM is soooo much more satisfying than stuff I listened to before

Jeje I was on the car with a backpack full of tapes testerday and at one point NEEDED to listen to some IDM/Ambient as hip hop and pop tapes couldn't get me where I wanted and I got reminded of this thread...

..and thankfully there was good old AROVANE on an old Sony 120 min metal tape recorded from NAPSTER on 2001.

IDM and Ambient are music for a soulful mind and for a conscious soul...jeje

yes yes yes. popped in the Icol Diston tracks last week. i highly enjoy the AMX colabs on there with Phonem. they're all good, but i'd like to look more into Zahn's Cycliph stuff. it's like he took his style from Atol Scrap and made even more percussive and experimental. i love it.

also put in some Electric Birds' Strata Frames on U-Cover and Shuttle 358's Frame...i listen to Shuttle's Frame all the time. i believe that one is on 12k. i'd like to hear more of the other releases.
