What I'm wondering about is why all the IDM/electronica/whatever labels need to have such confusing websites. Supposed to be creative and "arty" or something? Just stupid if you ask me. There's a time and place for everything... except for poor design.

are you referring to Hymen's page? I didn't find it confusing, but I think you are wondering about the tabs at the type. I just guessed and clicked on whatever

Yeah I figured it out as well, but there was no need for the silly words. Put the focus on the music, not the packaging. But hymen isn't the worst contender anyway.

well, i particularly find a lot of value in presentation as well. it adds quite a bit to the music. the art and the music are hand in hand in the experience in my opinion. i really like how refreshing some of the sites are for electronic musicians. it's not the same old thing.

an interesting quote by Richard Bailey aka Proem during an interview with Modsquare's John Colon: "I mean, since Negativ, I’ve done all my own graphics. Even the graphics for Burn Plate No.1 were pictures of a painting I did. I don’t think you can even truly appreciate this stuff unless you have a visual element to it as well.

i guess that's what i was trying to say.

I think cover designs fall more under art than design. Design is all about putting functionality first.

functionality, in my opinion, also attributes to the enhancement of feelability.
