Word Perfect disappeared, it seems, when he found out that he wasn't delivering to us any actual news (corporate music blows, surprise!)

Too bad. I was hoping to get some dirt on the latest 50 Cent release...

Personally, I think music rules - so much of it. If I bought all the music I wanted at this moment I would be hundreds of thousands dollars in debt.

Not every band in the world can have the same amount of publicity. There is plenty of good music being made today, it's just not as "in your face" as the crappy music. I typically don't hear about a good band until they've been around for a few years. It's just like those DVD bargain bins at Walmart: you can find something good if you do some digging.
Listened to Idlewild with Annihilate Now!

i may be out to lunch, but i try to find merits in all types of music... for instance, you can't deny that toxic by britney is a catchy song, and the sharp violin hook is wicked.

the album 'band on the run' by sir paul is lyrically vacuous, barely an ounce of substance buried in the silly word play. but i'll be damned if it's not catchy as hell and an absolute joy to listen to. try to listen to the strengths of any particular music... enjoy it for what it's worth. naturally there is utterly crappy music offering nothing to savour, but i think it's pretty easy to avoid.

your hatred for music is just a phase - everyone goes through it. take a break and don't listen to any music for a week or two, then pick up something new.

He's a lost cause. He works on the inside.

Is it the one with the 'silly love songs'?

No that's Wings At the Speed of Sound, which had some strong radio tracks on its own (you might also remember "Let 'Em In"), although "Silly Love Songs" was pretty damn close to MOR. Not a favorite, but it certainly blows away most of his stuff 80's and beyond. Since I don't know anything about 70's-80's underground, though, I am really not qualified to talk about Paul McCartney

I think Band on the Run might have more "hits"; some strong rock songs like "Jet", "let Me Roll It," "Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five." Considering what little McCartney has had to offer AFTER Band, it's almost surreal to be talking about a time when I thought he had a good thing going...

My father'd bought me a greatest hits of paul mcartney which had the two songs and the one that went 'ebonee and ivoreee live in perfect harmonee' - at that time all I'd of western music was John Denver and Demis Russos. While PMc paled in comparison to Demis... it is hard to ignore songs that you kept on rotation for over a year on close to daily rotation.

I believe there is a lot of talent in the music industry today, although in Britain I'm starting to see a very bad trend happening here. These shows Pop Idol are pumping out really really bad talentless people who only last maybe a year...even less if they are lucky. I think some of these shows that create out of thin air bands and solo artists don't have the same caliber as bands and solo artists that actually get to where they are through hard work and not some game show. It seems sad british record labels actually back these shows.....

i think that shows that brits have better taste, because the American Idols have had extremely successful and long careers (as long as can be since AI is not that long running). so as you can see, Americans buy into what the big record companies pump out a lot easier.
