Thumbs up Elbow Fans?

Just got the Elbow album Cast of Thousands. Great stuff, and I am just loving the voice! Any other Elbow fans out there? How are the other albums?

Wow, I am really surprised there are no Elbow fans, or maybe people haven't heard of them here... Heck, makes me almost feel like 'cutting edge!'

I would definitely suggest taking a listen. Their lead singer has this very distinctive voice, and the songs are very melancholic and sad, but appealing at the same time. Some of their great songs off of Cast of Thousands include: Fugitive Motel, Not a Job, Flying Dream.

I believe their first album came out in 2001. I only got the one album though so I don't know too much other than it is GOOD. I am hesitant to compare them to anyone but they are in the style of Coldplay, though they very much have their own identity. Cast of Thousands almost reminds me a bit of Beck's Sea Changes.

I bought Asleep in the Back first so I prefer that one. Cast of Thousands didn't seem to hit as hard as Asleep in the Back. Asleep in the Back is definitely more of a somber album, but still I think those tracks were far more vibrant than the newer songs.

There was a thread like this already and someone actually said they thought Elbow nearly outperformed Muse at a concert. Not like outperforming Muse is a challenge.

I completely agree with this... Asleep in the Back was very good, Cast of Thousands only moderate...
