Korg or Roland?

i don't really know about synthesizers, but im getting one, so i better start knowing them now. I've been to other forums that talks about synthesizers, and all that really makes me think is good is Korg and Roland, but i donno anything about them, so does anyone know stuff about them? and can you recommand and guide me in this?

i doubt you'll be disappointed with either (i'm no expert but i'll get my roommate who 'is' to check this on the weekend if you don't get more responses)

basically i think this is the same as asking a guitar player 'gibson or fender'?

basically your main concerns are going to be cash and the type of sounds you're trying to go for. and are you looking to get an all in one deal with the synth and keyboard as one unit or just a rack unit with lots of knobs and a midi controller keyboard eventually?

well, cash isnt a big deal for me, but i'm concer about the sounds, so both make different sounds? as in one of them maybe better for certain subgenre of electronica music?

I'm into industrial and trance stuff, dark wave, gothic, abient trance stuffs.

I heard people saying Roland is better, but i donno...

well if cash isn't an issue you can always spring for the ridiculous $10 000+ synth setups which will provide you with absolutely any sound you can imagine.

it's not so much a matter of both making different sounds so much as different models by each manufacturer offering a different range of parameters and effects.

as far as i know the only time you really start getting specific sounds based on specific pieces of gear is when you start getting into vintage electronic gear and analog synths. it's like the beastie boys said 'nothing sounds quite like an 8-0-8'

If money isn`t a issue (not that expensive really) and you want to make that kind of music, maybe you should check out Access Virus Indigo 2. http://www.access-music.de/products....roduct=indigo2
It`s considered the best in the industry, but I can`t speak from personal experience, just check it out!

Yeah, if that's what you're after and not anything really unique then the Access Virus is the way to go.

As used by VNV Nation etc.
