It's like Kazaa, but a million times better. Easy to use, faast d/ls... all that

wow, thats a pretty good program, i just downloaded it, its fast but it lacks some songs.

unfortunately emule doesnt work for me. always forever waiting.. juz managed to dl 2M out of 1.5G over the past week. i'm on broadband.

but emule is gd to find obscure apps which cant be found on kazaa/imesh.

not sure if it's out of topics.. another gd p2p to find obscure apps is bit torrent.

i think for musics dl stick to the mainstream p2p ie kazaa imesh bearshare etc..

The spywear in KAZAA drove me nuts

since installing kazza lite I have not looked back it is the best.

since installing SoulSeek I have not looked back, and now shun Kazaa as the spawn of satan. Kazaa is horrid for underground, lesser known music. As where SLSK is godly.

I can't seem to get on Soulseek
Kazaa is good, but indeed I can't find all the things I'm searching for

Just letting you all know (I heard this from a friend), Kazaa lite is being taken off the internet to download because the guy who makes it is getting sued by the creators of Kazaa. Apparently he hasn't been getting permission to take out all of the spyware etc and change it. So in saying that, if you want it you should probably try to get it as soon as possible.

Well i've tried all the programs posted so far and have settled on 2 which i think are best
Kazaa lite for films and single tracks
Soulseek for complete albums and rare/obscure music
Soulseek is definitely the best in my opinion
Anyone tried filetopia?

Why Soulseek rules :
- thousand millions of mp3s (ALL kinds of music!!! don't believe people who say that soulseek is only for electronic music)
- you can search different files at one time : keep an eye on all your requests!
- search windows auto-refresh!!
- you can decide the max upload speed and the max uploads allowed : control on your files is FULL
- before downloading a file you will see the max speed you'll get from this user : don't wait for a file if a user allows only 1kb/s...
- you can see the list of the users who are waiting for your files : users can't get a file if you don't want to give them
- in case of "leechers", you can ban a user and ignore his messages
- "wishlist" : if any user has the file you requested you'll be aware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- easy chat with other users (for "negociating"...)
- users file-browsing enabled : useful if an user seems to like the same music as you
- you can see who shares and who steals : you can easily see how many files people share
- your hotlist (permanent, unlike Winmx) shows who's online, who's away and who's offline.
- it will be very difficult for an user to 'fly under your radar' : if he tries to download too many files from you, you can find him and cut him fastly... but before doing that you should browse his files! If ever he's got many files you want, he'll be forced to let you download first!;-)
- your request can be very sharp : include or exclude a term (...)
- if the user you're downloading from disconnects, the link won't be broken (unlike kazaa...) and you'll download again as soon as he'll be back

BUT...
- no multi-sources download (not at all)...
- sometimes soulseek server may be down for a few hours
- if you're a newcomer and that you have strictly no file to share, it will be VERY difficult for you to join the community since every user can have an eye on what you're sharing...
- no pause system (unlike kazaa)
- div-x are not privileged...


It's not possible to say if Soulseek allows fast-downloads : it depends on how users share. It's possible (and easy to find) to download your mp3s at 40kb/s!

Soulseek is a drug. Once you join the community, you'll be addicted!!

I'm looking for stuff like Bis and Shounen Knife, and Kazaa Lite never grabs some of that stuff. Should I get Ares or Soulseek?
