I use or have used a bunch of p2p programs, but right now I only use kazaa lite and blubster. I use these for a few reasons. One of them is because when I went away to college last year the original kazaa program did not work, the school had somehow blocked its use in the dorms and on campus, but kazaa lite actually worked. Also kazaa lite has no ads or popups or anything. If you get kazaa your gonna get real familiar with something named bonzi buddy, weather bug, and a million other ad software. I'm not sure if users on kazaa lite are connected to the same thing that kazaa are, I'm not that technically proficient, but you can find all kinds of stuff on kazaa lite, including rare covers and live performances. There is a lot of mislabeled crap, but you'll find that anywhere. The only way to get around that is by listening to whatever you're downloading before it is finished. There are programs that allow you to do this with both audio and video files, cause it doesn't always work in kazaa lite or kazaa cause of file formats. I still have used kazaa lite here at home where I have dial up and it works fine, of course it is much slower than a t1 connection though! Kazza lite is also ridiculously easy to use. I use blubster because if you want a well known song then blubster has it, and for some reason, again due to the technical setup, blubster will download that song faster than kazaa lite. However on blubster, they have a smaller library and you can only download audio.
I'm not saying there aren't better p2p programs out there but these two have been tested and are proven to work. Audio Galaxy used to be the best but they got ripped apart and now you can't get anything from them. I've tried win mx, maybe I didn't know how to use it, but I couldn't download one thing off it. It had a huge selection to choose from but you can't download everything you see, it is too complicated to explain. Apparently you can get another program called winshare or something that makes winmx work a lot better but it didn't do anything for me. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yeah...with WINMX there is a lot more things to download but most of them put you in a queue so you have to wait to start downloading a lot of stuff. It's pretty much the same as kazaa really but there are more files and also more queues. A bit annoying really.
By the way, if you download kazaa make sure you get the lite version. Not only do you NOT get ads and pop-ups but you also don't get spyware. Spyware are programs that automatically install themselves onto your computer and eat up your processing speed etc without you knowing. If you've installed kazaa (not lite) you will need to install a program that deletes spyware. I believe there is one called Adaware which you can get for free from www.download.com

Have you tried the new Kazaa? It's a lot better than the older one. It has an option where you can make it keep searching until it finds a certain amount of songs and it's also meant to hide your ip address.

what other p2p programs besides kazaa and winmx can you get all kinds of media files from?
Also, is soulseek any good? What about bearshare?

Well as stated before, Bearshare is good if you have broadband. You can get all types of media files with that. You can do the same with Limewire but the program is so bad there is no point in trying it out.

Last I heard, Bearshare still had spyware bundled with its main install.
Win MX and Kazaa Lite are what I use, but I am going to try Soulseek on the recommendation of users here. They advertise no spyware right on their site, which is the litmus test I use to put anything on my computer.
