Nobody likes melodies anymore. Keane needs to forget everything they know about music and just scream obscenities and play three chord guitar so distorted that it sounds like a broken chainsaw trying to cut through granite. Then they might have something worth listening to, right?

no, it would already help if they wouldn't be so horribly sentimental

you cant play that card on me, Rev. Keane suck not because tehyre melodic but because they juste plain suck. from the little ive heard it sounds like the sappiest crap ive heard since the super-hyped, go-nowheres Starsailor and im sure theyre destined for the same fate. Starsailor had melodies too [crap ones].

I can play that card if I choose. Don't tell me what card to play. As far as music goes, if I like it, I like it. Don't tell me what sucks and what doesn't. I don't care what anyone else thinks about the music I choose to listen to and enjoy.
About Keane in particular, a lot of listeners have a bias against this band from the start, not because of the quality of their music at all, but because of its attitude, the fact that it is sentimental, sensitive, and serious. Well, a lot of my favorite music is all the above. I like Keane for the same reason I like Pet Sounds or some of the Carpenters' best work.

Yes I've got something against the sentimentality... but also against the enormous clichés in the lyrics and melodies... They're just a commercial, easier to digest and weaker form of something from the past...
