I saw that video! I was very very very disappointed.

OK, it's understandable that some people don't like them. But the whole "they were on MTV" shit's a poor excuse. SO THE FUCK WHAT? As long as they keep making good music, who cares? They're still my favorite band no matter what

Thats all good and well till they take the hypocrit line and say that a band cant be punk and have an image, for some reason.

That was very inarticulate, i know...
The elitist attitude of Punk Rock is what really makes me hate it. I hate the punk community for the most part because a lot of them in my experience think they need to act like Johnny Rotten meets John Lennon.

Even if Rancid is trying to hard to be "punk" its a good thing. Even if you hate them its a good thing, as long as they are out there being a REAL punk is anything better than fucking bands like good charlotte or Sum 41 who just sit around trying to be the fucking Backstreet boys and just want money. As long as rancid is out there trying to repel this i believe its a good thing. Punks are know looked at being a bunch of pussies because of gay bands like GC, yellowcard, and New Found Glory

Punk Rock elitism only encourages shitty music and makes sure good music loses its grass roots support as soon as it becomes even marginally succesful. I agree completely. I like Rancid, I don't really know anything about their image, but I have all but one of their CDs and think they fit in with classic groups like the Damned or the Undertones.

Really, do the people here compaining about sell-outs and image even know the history of the sex-pistols I wonder?

he he.. on that note, check this out:

They have good bass lines but other than that they are shit. I wouldn't consider them punk anymore. They are just a bunch of sell outs to me.

Casey. Punk is a culture more than a music category. I grew up with punk and I would know..... Rancid are sellouts. I mean, having a contract with MTV is a BIG CLUE.
