DJ Krush - Jaku [2004]
This album was released a while ago, but I haven't heard anyone mention it yet. I just heard a couple of tracks and they seem great. What's up with the lack of recognition?

Hmm strange. I'm no expert on the genre, but isn't he supposed to be one of the big guys in instrumental hip hop? Sounds pretty good to me at least.

yeah, basically. His last album "message at the depth" got some notoriety, but wasn't nearly as big as it should've been. His albums, throughout the years, have been consistent all around. Great producer, love his work.

If you are new to so-called 'instrumental hip hop' you'd probably like his stuff. Its ok. But if you followed the evolution of the genre from now until then you'd probably have little interest in the work he does now, because he got stuck to a forumla that worked great at the beinning, for the first 3 albums, but now its just played out. Usual slow chunky breakbeats.

P.s. if you are new to the 'genre', I would suggest The Herbaliser - Blow Your Headphones as a good primer.

I totally understand what you mean halcyon days. Stuff like this is bound to happen when you're just getting into stuff. I'll try to get some more knowledge from your suggestion.
Your suggestion is good too Equinox, but I heard it when you reccomended it before ( and liked it )

Esp. 'Another Mother' (track 3) - Blow Your Headphones.
Since we're on Krush recommendations, I feel that his best track (considering his entire catalogue) is 'Whats Behind Darkness' on Meiso.
