What's your review of these big box sets? I don't have either of them.

Well, I haven't paid much attention to either of the two, so let me get back with you.

I don't pay attention to blogs to have even checked who ran it. I was only looking to see how rare of a disease it was.

I have both. Have they reissued Tandoori Dog on CD? Unless yours are cd-r as well. Mine are lps.

I will say if you have the money, Box of Silk and Dogs is a must if you are fan of Jones. You get close to 8 hrs of excellent music.

If you are interested you can surbscribe Staalplaat with if you want to be sure since the releases are limited edition runs. That's what I did. I believe half of each the the releases are held for subscribers. I think they are sold out of both boxes now. They have been re-releasing in limited edition 800 sets of previous releases. So they might eventually get back to these boxes.

This is a pretty good site on all things Jones

I'd love to hear more Muslimgauze, but the only stuff I've heard by him has been on compilations, or the odd MP3.

It's ridiculous that I can't find anything by him, he lived in Preston, about 30 minutes away from me, which has one of England's biggest indie record shops, and I've still never even seen a CD of his. Preston's traditionally a very Catholic city, it's like they'd like to pretend he never existed, rather than be proud of such a muscial talent.

his cd's are usually very limited, so it doesn't surprise me that you're unable to find them.

Soleilmoon still distributes for Staalplaat here in the U.S. There's usually a few MG CDs in decent record shops, not mall record shops. Retailers in the, ahem, more "cultured" cities and college towns can usually order MG if they don't have any. What they can get depends on their distributors and what's available.
Back when I was pushing Muslimgauze ever week on my radio program, the indie shop down the street ordered a bunch. MG sells relatively well in Amherst.

Jones's death is usually attributed to a "blood infection." Since it was a fungal infection, you could call it a mycosis ("athlete's foot" and candidiasis are common mycoses). Since it had a rapid onset and kiled him quickly, it was "acute." However, "acute blood mycosis" is not a disease unto itself, and such conditions are described using more specific terms.

Check the links I posted above, if you want to check to see what you can still get

Since you are in England and not the U.S., it should be no problem for you to get them from the label directly. You can also keep track of new releases a lot easier through the label. Even if you don't want to go the subscription method.

Jones' releases have been as limited as little as 300 to a max of 1000 per release. The label has been reissuing several in batches of 800 the last couple years.

What makes you think I needed to know the basic biology? There is a major difference in wanting to find out how rare something is to not knowing the basic biology of it.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply you didn't know, I was just explaining why I called it what I did.
