The Cure are touring! Holy cow!
I don't own a single Cure album, but my sister owns their greatest hits album Galore. Those tunes were constantly pumped into my skull beginning around age 6, and i repudiated them for what they were, melodramatic, over-synthesized british crap. 10 years later, i'm totally hooked. I saw the cure two nights ago at the tweeter center, and despite robert smith's flirtations with obesity, he still put on a killer show. unfortunately Galore is the only album i'm familiar with, thus i was only able to recognize 4 or 5 songs in the massive set that they played at the Curiosa Festival. If any Cure fans would be so kind as to give me the down low on their favorite albums and songs, i would be much obliged. thanks.

They had a new album come out in late June. Self-titled. It's really good. Head on the Door is probably my favorite Cure album, but the most widely highly-regarded is unquestionably Disintegration.
Favorite songs... "Fascination Street," "Charlotte Sometimes," "Anniversary," "Plainsong," "Lullaby," "Kyoto Song," "Six Different Ways," "Push," etc.

good cure albums = Pornography, disintergration, boys don't cry, 17 seconds, head on the door, kiss me kiss me, faith, japanese whispers. During the 80's they consistantly put out great album after great album, for that I rate them as one of the great 80's bands.
My personal fave is probably "boys don't cry". There is a thread about them in the alternative pop section you might want to hunt that out.

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are
1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn
in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.

The Cure is great! I wish I would have gone to the Curiosa tour, but it was the day after Modest Mouse and I had a few other reasons I didnt go, but I wish I would have.

"flirtations with obsesity" - ha. When Smith was in Melbourne a few years ago the street press were going berserk because he wore Adidas sneakers. I mean, obviously, we all want him barefooted like Jesus Christ, but I don't know, it still amuses me to think of Robert Smith in Adidas sneakers.
