Aphex Twin is so lost and faded into his own legend, Aphex Twin simply couldn't live up the 90's.
Autechre lived up the 90's.
Autechre anyhow, became effectist as they walked the road of experimentation. Now everyone wants to do the fancy over f/x'd stuff that they did just to cope out with the trend.
I like for music to be easy to listen and enjoyable in therms of structure and sound design like MASSIVE ATTACK, ORB OR BIOSPHERE.
Anyhow I love Fennesz, because his noise is musical, sublime and beautiful.
Advice to the young: "Don't follow the trend, it will save you just to kill you later"...which means Richard Devine needs to revamp, or he will die like Aphex Twin.

Check out his new album Sort & Lave coming out soon. I'm sure it will be the same as usual, but lovely indeed. This is supposedly his last album in "stereo"...whatever that means.

The NEURON synht made by HARTMANN works in surround and quadraphonic systems...
I don't like RICHARD DEVINE much basically because his music is rich in form and shape, but poor in substance and content.
Like most of the stuff they make today.
AUTECHRE compose very substantial and emotional melodies and harmonies but kids only hear the f/x's and the weird tempo'd percussions.

Replying to a topic that's nearly 1,5 years old just to even things out? Is that allowed here?
(I secretly voted for Autechre)

    .
a year ago i would have said autechre, hands down, but strictly on the strength of "selected ambient works 85-92", its a close call. i like more of autechres material but i think i like that aphex album more or (close) to just as much as any of my autechre albums.

I picked Autechre (although I admit my knowledge of Aphex Twin is limited)...tied at 17 now.
