What type of fan are you?
Please tell me what kind of rock music fan you are?
I just made some groups of fans based on my assumptions...
First off it is hard not to be spun by your friends, media, parents etc...
I would consider myself a more of a honest fan... I like some popular music....but I also read a lot of reviews etc ..... so they obviously shape how I go into listening to a cd....
I try not to dislike artists because it is the cool thing to do...
I might not love certain bands....such as say Good Charolette... but I can respect that they appeal to many people....
On the other hand...a band I used to like.... Linkin Park..... I just can't stand anymore.... and I think it is part of the "Real music fans hate LP" attitude....but Im not sure if that is true...or I just stopped liking them on my own....

I think I'm pretty honest. I try not to like or dislike anything based on the "hype" surrounding it. I like to think that if it's good music, whether the artist is Beethoven or Madonna (and yes, my record collection includes both, and yes, I think Madonna is in fact capable of good music sometimes), I can hear that and appreciate it.

I save my judgements until I hear a band, I don't care if people say they're God's gift to rock music, I still wait until I hear them to go along with it. Same with if people tell me to pass up a band. My musical tastes are a bit too broad to exclude anything.

Well put Rev... I wish I could be that noble...I have something to aspire too....Madonna uses more than just music to get a message across...she also uses sex and shock factors.... but that is cool... I can respect that...but I wont be buying an album anytime soon....

I'm kinda technical, but for the most part I'm honest. But there is times when a guitar riff will be so idiotic that it will get me to hate bands like, RATM or the white stripes but other than that I'm honest.

I'm honest, I can make my own opinion and I don't deny any of them.

I'm definitely an honest fan. I make it my personal goal to seek out and sample all types of music since in every genre there is good and bad and to truly appreciate music in my opinion you have to be open to this fact, judging based on genre, hype or otherwise is immeditately closing yourself off from possibly some of the finer artistic points of music.
