Personally, i don't really care for their work of the 1990s/2000s, it's hardly bad, but I miss their more abrasive material.
They're developing a style I've decided to call "Industrial Lounge."

Zilence ist zexy, zo zexy...
I find myself enjoying most of their recent stuff...but maybe that's the problem. In the past, you had to work to enjoy it! My favorite E.N. track of all time is "Seele Brennt." I'd been into Depeche Mode relatively early, and noticed Mode producers Daniel Miller and Gareth Jones credited on "Halber Mensch." You know, Einsturzende Neubauten was a huge influence on Martin Gore. Prior to becoming an inane rock stars, Depeche Mode did a lot of the same scrap metal clanging as E.N. The difference is E.N. brought the found-materials on stage, whereas D.M. processed the found-sounds electroacoustically and shaped them into bubble gum pop songs! Anyway "Seel Brennt" is a song on which you can hear E.N.'s influence on D.M.

As for Trendy Rezner, I have no problem with Nothing distributing a Neubauten CD, as long as he does a good job.

What I resent is the usurpation of the term "Industrial." Whenever I'd say I liked "industrial music," some dope would say, "Oh, you mean Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Prodigy, and stuff like that?"
Noooo! Not f**king stuff like that! I mean Neubauten, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Fad Gadget, Severed Heads, Controlled Bleeding..."

amen.

It's fine that you enjoy EN's current music, it's just not my style...

One thing I particularly dislike...what the hell is it with Blixa singing in English on Neubauten records now??? I mean, sure, in the '80s he did it once or twice, but it almost seemed like a joke...this new stuff is just unbearable...I want to hear him squal and screech and howl in German!!! He could sing "Merry had a little lamb" and it would sound like some demonic call to arms!

Well, yes and no. I LIKE them more than I ENJOY them. With so much music at my fingertips these days, competition for my listening ear is fierce!

Blixa is trying his hand at a mellow voice, but it does sound rather comical. Some of Blixa's operatic side-projects are laughable, but EN is never as bad as, say, Laibach.

When I first heard it, their cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Sand" had me blinking uncontrollably for about an hour. It didn't take much convincing to explore after that. Anything with jackhammers is fine by me.

omfg I hate people like that. Why do people have such a problem seeing the difference between Industrial Rock and Industrial. Its kinda like confusing Emo and Punk; sure emo has its roots in punk, but it is NOT the same thing! I know a guy that if he hears any hard sounding electronic music, he will label it 'industrial'. Come To Daddy-pappy mix is not industrial!!!!!!

I also prefer the older releases of Einstürzende Neubauten. Those were more noisy, dark & interesting. Blixa's singing does sound better in German.

There's Laibach, of course, but their back-catalogue is a wee bit patchy. Die Krupps started out as a German language band, their "Volle Kraft Voraus" is a great early electronic/industrial album.

KMFDM sounded superb when they sang in German (as on the track "Bargeld"), but they didn't do it often enough.

Erm. Damn, I really can't think of many German bands, who sing in German. X-mal Deutchland, if you can put up with a bit of goth.
