Einstürzende Neubauten is one of my favorite bands of alltime. Aside from being one of the first three Industrial bands, and virtually spawning the experimental/"weird clangy shit" genres, they make some really good music. Silence Is Sexy and Ende Neu are probably my favorite albums from them. I prefer the more melodic stuff to the metal clanging.

As for discussing them, I'd say that they're probably my favorite industrial group...Skinny Puppy lags close behind, but no other Industrial band has the sheer dramatic force of Neubauten. More importantly, no other industrial group has Blixa. I don't know what damn fool decided to label Trent Rezner as the paradigm of Industrial frontmen, because Blixa is one of the most distinct personalities of any group ever. Very few vocalists can compare to the tortured wailing and screeching of Blixa -- his voice has been known to literally send chills down my spine! But more importantly, Neubauten has convinced me that all industrial bands should be German. I mean, really, it should just be a rule. (For that matter, they make me wish I knew German -- I think Blixa could sing "the fluffy rabbits like to sing and dance and spread their love and cheer" and it would sound fucking evil as all hell in German! ) But anyway, enough ranting. Neubauten rules and I'll definitely have to check out the neu release.

I also consider Einstürzende Neubauten to be my favorite Industrial group . The lovely screeches and sounds are definitely unique . Blixa is a better frontman then Trent . The people who think Trent is the ultimate Industrial frontman probably aren't familiar with Einstürzende Neubauten .

You know how to say new . You know some German .

the story line: the film has a very simple story about a man who wants to oppose the ever present muzak in a hamburger restaurant because he has found out the function of that very muzak in the fast food chain restaurant. and he also knows how to stop the muzak!

with a cast like the following, you really should track this movie down.

FM Einheit .... F.M.
William Rice .... Jaeger
Christiane Felscherinow .... Christiana
Britzhold Baron De Belle .... H-Burger Trainer
Matthias Fuchs .... H-Burger Manager
William S. Burroughs .... Old Man
Genesis P-Orridge .... High Priest
Slim Darko .... Pirate
Erwin Lieske .... Pirate
Sabine Bredy .... Pirate
Sigurd Mueller .... Pirate
Matthias Wein .... Pirate
Peter Zoyt .... Pirate
Alexander Hacke .... Pirate (as Alexander von Borsig)
Jeff Moss .... Pirate

I have to check that out . I'm sure I'll find it interesting . Thanks Evil for the information .

I can't decide which recording is my favorite . It really depends on what mood I'm in .

True enough. Actually, I guess I know more German than I thought, although it all comes from music. Einsturzende Neubauten - "Collapsing New Buildings", Halber Mensch - "Half Man", Haus Der Luege - "House of Lies", Kraftwerk - "Power Station, Autobhan - "Motorway", etc, etc...

...actually, my first German I picked up from Tool. "Die Eier Von Satan" The Eggs Of Satan

So how does Halber Mensch rank among their releases? That's the one that I have on my wishlist. I don't own any Einsturzende Neubauten yet, but I plan on making that my first purchase. Sounds pretty cool.

And btw, thanks for not making this an Einsturzende Neubauten vs. Skinny Puppy thread.

Btw, this cover is classic. I like how they worked the band's symbol into the horse's eye.

I think that's a good choice . It's more aggressive and noisy .
You might want to get "Silence is Sexy" as well . It's more melodic , so you can experience the difference .
