yeah, I have to agree, Geir Jenssen is great. I love the majority of his work. the milk factory website has a nice interview in the latest issue, check it out. I don't suppose Uwe Schmidt has even been talked about a great deal on here, but I must say his releases as Atom Heart on Fax are nice. Shit, I can't even fathom how many releases he really has with the 60+ monikers he uses.

The tutorial is easy but imagine trying to not only build a sound and then a melody or beat but... an ENTIRE TRACK out of it...

well. isn't it, kind of, the same situation with reaktor?
i mean, i'm a-okay (sort of) with building synth patches, but from what i've heard/read the guys are building entire tracks with it.

reason is kool 'cause you can make some really neat stuff... i just play with those cables from behind the rack (after i tweak the hell out of the synthesizers) and all kinds of weird, unexpected stuff comes out.
then i just put it through ableton live. i *heart* the concept of dragndropping samples, playing them and simultaneously arranging the entire track.. then i tweak stuff here and there and presto! there it is. simple and effective.

Hey thanks, I just read the interview. See, Gier is an artist that I can really respect as a person, not just an artist. Accomplished mountaineer -- double respect, because it shows hes not just some weakling nerd lazing around the studio. And the interviewer rightly associates Eno with Biosphere in terms of relevance, which shows that he knows his shit. I cant wait to hear his new album.

I have heard the new album. It's the most minimal, quiet album from him I've ever heard. You may like it. And yes, Bruno, the interviewer, knows his stuff

I'm brand new on this forum.

I would say right now I'd go with David Rosenboom, dean of music at the California Institute of Arts, previously at CCM (Center for Contemporary Music) at Mills College in Oakland.

http://music.calarts.edu/~david/

The man who made me a lifelong fan of electronic music is Daniel Miller, founder of Mute Records, and producer of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure, The Normal, Silicon Teens and so on.

David Rosenboom needs a new graphic designer for his website imediatelly. The art of his earyl albums is gorgeous though.

Sound Designer is a sweet word.
