yeah, it seems like a kind of thing for which you have to have a fucking master's degree in every science in history of the time&world to be able to write something in it.
not to mention csound. like, "WTF, mate..?"

or am i just too stoopid to get the hang of it?

i'll take my reason/reaktor/ableton any time of day, thank you very much.

I did the MAX/MSP tutorial that came with the program and it seemed pretty easy to me. Of course the most complex thing I managed to do was to play a sine wave 10 times in a row or something.

REASON is cool because the interface is so simple and because it's really friendly with cheap MIDI keyboards.

REASON combined with PROTOOLS and a smart source for sampling can take you wherever you want.

What is with you people and your taste for these bleeding edge obscure artists? Whats the psychology behind that?

Tetsu Inoue. Nobody else comes close. The rest are just basically taking the piss by comparison.

I did it too.

The tutorial is easy but imagine trying to not only build a sound and then a melody or beat but... an ENTIRE TRACK out of it...

Jesus..

I must admit I've not looked into CSound, I may do, but I don't see why I should go to war with a program just to make a noise come out of it.

you'd be surprised how obscure Tetsu is to a lot of people new to electronic music. "Ambient Otaku" and "World Receiver" are brilliant and his works with Namlook are sweet.

I never understood why that is. I know partially why it is -- because all these new jacks think that the first time they ever hear a synth piece, that it was somehow 'THE' synth piece that started it all. Nobody knows the history of it.

Anyway, even tetsu outshines namlook. Or Gier, who I think comes in a close 3rd, behind Namlook.
