Rap Videos - REAL rap videos.
I've always been partial to Blackstar's Respiration video. But I just watched Roots - Clones on tv, and it inspired me to start this thread. What else do you serious hiphop fans enjoy?
Next?
Honorable mentions: Common - I Used To Love H.E.R, Kardinal - Ol' Time Killin', that track from Crooklyn /w buckshot.

What is your defination of a "real rap video"? Not to put down any point you were trying to convey but in my opinion the music is the important aspect and if there is a video that can correctly compare to the song than i guess it should be recognized, not as great but as a video in general.

I hear what you're saying. I'm talking about videos as a creative medium. The music always comes first; the video is an extension of that. For instance, a video like the new usher/lil'jon has absolutely no merit to me because nothing went into it. On the other hand, a video like 99 Problems, I think, has loads of artistic merit and vision. Can you feel the difference? Chingy (anything) / Umi Says. Bad Boy - goin' no where / Luracris - Stand Up.
Other favourites:
De La Soul / Redman - Ooooh (blowout budget, funny and good at the same time bad)
ATCQ - Bonita Applebaum
Gza - Breaker breaker

Ah, understood.
And i agree, 99 Problems is one of the best music videos i have seen in a while. I suppose anything that is different and had some type of good plot would be okay with me. Um, the only one that comes to mind at the moment is Brenda's Got A Baby- Tupac but that is simply because i am presently looking at it. However, i do get your point, and it is a decent thread idea.

Yeah that was a good busta rhymes video. I also liked the video for Gimme Some Mo', although I hated the track.

you guys remember the video for 'drop' by the pharcyde? was the first time i ever saw anything filmed in reverse and played backwards so that it seemed to move forward... VERY tweaked video the entire thing is one long backwards shot... it still stands as one of the best music videos i've ever seen for any style...

Intergalactic had nothing on Check Your Head. OR, Sabotage, for that matter.
