Squarepusher vs. Venetian Snares

I figured that the electronic section could use some more annoying "vs." threads, so here's one.

I'll think about my response later, I just wanted to get this going.

Early Venetian Snares reminded me of Early Squarepusher. But now both of them have went spastic into different territories. I'll take Squarepusher any day over VS though.

Venetian Snares has done some pretty good stuff, but I'm with Equinox, Squarepusher is generally much better.

the problem with VS is the quality of the music. He has tons of releases, but only a few (in my mind) are top notch. You have to give it to someone that wants to release 4-6 albums in a year (this year he may do this), but also, you have to look at the actual quality of each release and to see if it's worth it. Meanwhile, it seems Squarepusher takes his time making his own style that noone can completely mimic but may try for years on end. He wasn't the originator of drill n' bass, but he made it more popular than Luke Vibert's "Plug" project ever did. (although the Plug 1, 2, and 3 ep's are superb early drill n' bass/jungle albums)

Sorry Aaron... I feel different when I listen to Squarepusher, but dunno if it's half nostalgia for when I first heard him. He's the first electronic artist I investigated. They have very different sounds to me really, like how Squarepusher uses reverb totally different to anyone I hear, while Snares just crams samples in till bursting point. Seems a bit more loose with Tom too. But when I want to be pummelled, it's usually Vsnares who wins...

Vsnares could have release 3 amazing albums in the last 4 years. Instead he's released like 15 Ok ones with good tracks on.

Yeah, the first rule of business is 'don't flood the market'.

I just have just recently (a couple days ago) started listneing to both Venetian Snares and Squarepusher. It was really close, but I voted venetian snares because of I must of downloaded only the "top notch" stuff, but for both artists, my jaw hit the floor when I heard them. I really like VS's 'A Million Panda Bears In Bondage' and 'Milk'. But my vote doesnt mean much, I am by no means an expert on electronica.
