RM's 25 best guitarists of all time
In response to Rolling Stones list of the 100 best guitarists of all time, we at RM are goin to compile our own list of best guitarists. I figured compiling a list of 100 would be too complicated so lets just stick with a top 25 for now.
Everyone should post their list in order from 1-25. After a month or so all lists will be compiled into RM's top 25.
Scoring will be as follows: For every first place vote that guitarist will recieve 25 points, for every second place vote that guitarist will recieve 24 points, for every third place vote that guitarist will recieve 23 points, and so on. After a certain amount of time i will add up the points for all guitarists mentioned and they will be listed in the order of points recieved, creating our Top 25.
I hope its not too complicated and any suggestions are welcomed.
My top 25
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Duane Allman (Allman Bros Band)
3. Robert Johnson
4. Jerry Garcia
5. Eric Clapton
6. Carlos Santana
7. Trey Anastasio (Phish)
8. Ry Cooder
9. B.B. King
10. Jimmi Page (Led Zep)
11. Chuck Berry
12. Frank Zappa
13. Stevie Ray Vaughn
14. Warren Haynes (The Dead, Gov't Mule)
15. George Harrison
16. David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
17. Steve Howe (Yes)
18. John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
19. Les Paul
20. John Cipollina (Quicksilver Messenger Service)
21. Eddie Van Halen
22. John Fruscinate (RHCP)
23. Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audio Slave)
24. Robert Randolph
25. Kirt Hammet
so for my list Hammet gets 1 point and Hendrix gets 25 and everyone in between.
feel free to agree disagree or just plain tear my list up but as long as you post yours too.

Okay, Carlos Santana should not be ahead of Jimmy Page, who should not be ahead of B.B. King. B.B. played very uniquely, and no one can match what he did. Also, Duane Allman was great, but number 2 is really touchy ground. Another thing is Jerry Garcia 4th??? Also, the guy from Phish cant be put that high. And uh, Stevie Ray Vaughan not in top ten?! Also, how dare you not iclude Jeff Beck. Also missing, in my opinion, Brian May (Queen), Keith Richards (Rolling Stones), and maybe Pete Townsend. I will be working on my top twenty, I'll post it soon.

Has any of you heard of Paco de Lucia, probably pound for pound the best guitarrist in the world!! I know he is a classical guitar player, but still he deserves recognition

my love for phish aside, i can honeslty say that Trey Anastasio is the most talented guitarist in rock today. Many people just dont know about him or havent seen him play. The only reason i didnt put him higher is because he isnt as influential as those above him.
No matter how much abuse im about to take, I stand by my word.

I don't have a problem with Santana being ahead of Page, he was one of the greatest, definitely in my top 10. But Trey Anastasio is NOT the 7th greatest guitarist ever! Maybe the 117th, but not the 7th! And WTF is it with these ratings putting Jerry Garcia in their top 10 lists?? I have seen this twice already.
