i've been meaning to post my list for a while but i'm lazy...

i'm also going to stick to the rock i know and use personal preference rather than 'historical' signifigance... as cool as keith richards is his guitar playing just doesn't do much for me...

anyway... my personal top 25

1- JIMI HENDRIX.
2- john frusciante (rhcp / personal favorite )
3- eddie van halen
4- jimmy page (led zep)
5- david gilmour (pink floyd)
6- tony iommi (black sabbath)
7- johnny greenwood (radiohead)
8- james hetfield (metallica)
9- trey spruance (mr. bungle and a bunch of others)
10 - dave navarro (jane's addiction)
11 - jerry cantrell (alice in chains)
12 - larry lalonde (primus)
13 - billy corgan (smashing pumpkins)
14- kim thayil (soundgarden)
15- jagori tanna (i mother earth)
16- josh homme (kyuss / queens of the stone age)
17- carlos santana
18- alain johannes (eleven)
19 - eric johnson
20 - eric clapton
21 - angus young
22 - adrian utley (portishead)
23- joey santiago (the pixies)
24- jeff parker (tortoise)
25 -paul leary (the butthole surfers)

this list is hardly in order but whatever...

My list was of personal favorites and Jerry Garcia probably isnt in the top 10 of all time but he makes my top ten.

And i still say that Trey should be in everybodies top 25. I know how biased i must sound but really he's that talented, and i think now that phish is over and he is pursuing a solo career more people will recognize how good he is.

i'd definately recommend eleven if you're a fan of 90s alterna/grunge rock... they were a little too different from the 'norm' of the time to really get much recognition... the male/female vocals and their song styles probably threw off a lot of listeners....

i know the 2 main creative forces behind eleven recorded euphoria morning with cornell but what's their connection with superunknown?

they didn't do much on superunknown, but on fresh tendrils natasha shneider plays a clavinet, which im guessing is like a clarinet...

actually a clavinet is like a weird keyboard... usually a REALLY funky sound... stevie wonder used to use one a lot in the 70s... superstition is the easiest example to show off a typical clavinet sound...

Michael Angelo Batio should be up there somewhere...not as well known, but he has a killer sound and he could improv better than Paige anyday
