count the number of chordes you know, i doubt you know them ALL. but i do however believe you know all the basic chordes. im just assuming seeing as youve been playing for a month!

but on a less accusing note, im glad to hear that anyone picked up guitar! i love all of mine like children. i hope you stick to it because your still early into it, and its such an amazing skill and hobby to have. makes friends (im convinced my girlfriend went out with me because i played "every breath you take" for her), your the life of every party, guaranteed, and its a better stress reliever than many things i know of!

the trick to guitars and parties is that it doesnt have to be complicated, it has to be catchy and sing alongable (not a word, oh well). i know SO many good songs that are three basic chordes, or four, and people request me to play those more than the super technical stuff.

heres whats usually good for public:

-good riddance - green day
-horse with no name - america
-suzie q - ccr?
-brown eyed girl - ccr?
-comma camelien? whatever the song is i duno, i know how to play it, and all the old farts sing along.. gotta be sure their drunk first.
-every breath you take - the police (this one wins ladies mua!)
-blitzkrieg bop - ramones.. actually, anything ramones and real punks makes for a good time.

thats just a small list of things i would learn for party goin, but on a personal level its all up to you. i usually play the cure, afi, iron maiden, boston, and a couple more.

If you're good with guitar, anything you play will sound nice. Outta the one's grub has got listed, i would rather hear greenday. Well, if you wanna win the chicas, I would suggest anything kinda soft, emo-ish, ya know. go for some yellow card. If you wanna show off for your buds, someting awesome, like metallica or black sabbath. Just my opinion though. Definately don't give up though, guitar is totally hot, you'll have girls sourrounding you if you stick to it.

I just started to play the guitar as well. I have a friend who 'teaches' me...
I do have some trouble with reading tab.
I suppose that'll get better.
