What Brought You to Metal?
What made you personally start listening to metal? The Alternative could be what cd brought you to metal, but if something else turned you on to metal - do tell.

I think my answer is pretty obvious. I started listening to metal because my parents became Jehovah's witnesses. My First REAL metal cd (not nu metal) was THe DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN - Calculating Infinity.

Well, Im always pissed for any or no reason. Alot of metal shares the same attitude so thats the only reason other than the fact that the music itself is attractive to me. To be more detailed, the combiation of the druming and guitar riffs of black/death/thrash metal was attractive. First non- nu metal cd was Psalm 69-Ministry.

My parents used to listen to alot of 80's rock and metal, I liked it and so that was the route I went. I started out with bands like AC/DC, Motely Crew, Quiet Riot, Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin, etc... and eventually as I got older the music evolved into Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Fear Factory, Bruce Dickinson (Solo), Judas Priest and eventually I discovered bands like Helloween, Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Manowar, Therion, Nightwish, Yngwie Malmsteen, Demons and Wizards, Gamma Ray, Angra, etc...

I happened to be around when bands like Sabbath, Zeppelin, etc... first started recording.
If you need more, becaue I heard them on the radio or friends with older brothers were playing them. Didn't have anything to do with my parents, religion or anger management.
Is that a good enough answer?

So I take it you where trying to be rebelious?
And for me... I don't really remember. None of my parents where/are into metal. None of my friends at the time where into metal. And I had no older brothers to influence me... I guess I just heard it one day and loved it. Before I discovered metal I didn't really care for music. It was more used for background noise. I think the first band I heard/got into was Ozzy. Not 100% on that though.
