I wouldn't consider myself a "metal" fan, but I am partial to Carcass in particular, because they really helped me expand my vocabulary back when I was listening to Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men and what not. I think Napalm Death and Carcass were really one of the first bands that infiltrated my brain and made me realise that my current listening sphere was just really shit. And boring. And really just really boring.

Man...that's quite a jump, going from Boyz II Men to Napalm Death!!! You didn't need any transition did you?

Slayer was the really proper metal band that I listened to(I'd heard Load by Metallica and bits of guns'n roses).

Because his dad is cool.

For me, it was because my uncle was listening to Metallica a lot, and at the same time they had a song called "I disappear", which had a kick-ass video.

Until I was 15, my Huffy bicycle brought me to metal. I would take it to this place called "Vinyl Discoveries", and pick up the latest and greatest by then-new bands like ACCEPT, RAVEN, EXCITER, etc..

Once I got my license, an old Plymouth Valiant brought me to metal on a regular basis. Even shows.

Fear Factory.

Before then it was mostly just Metallica and Pantera, until one christmas I got two Fear Factory cds. I was in Tasmania at the time, with a whole lot of fuck all to do so I found myself listening to the albums alot and going from "music is good, but the vocals are a little much" to "fucking oath!! Fear Factory!!!" in about two weeks.

From there I moved further along into more brutal stuff like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide, eventually to grindcore like Fuck.. I'm Dead and Carcass, and most sub-genres in between (Technical, Black, Industrial ect. Who can be fucked listening all the politically correct classifications)
