Thats hard. Music in general lightens my mood. Weather its chior class or me in my room bumpn the headphones. I would have to say maybe New Order-Crystal, and just about anything by The Cure.

How about any songs that talk generally about life being do-able. Switchfoot's "Meant to Live" or "This is Your Life" works for me. Then there's songs like The Calling's "Our Lives" They encourage me at least, i hope they'd work for you.

When I'm down I put on Disc #2 of the Beach Boys "Good Vibrations" boxed set and let the music of Brian Wilson roll over me like a wave.

Thx for the replies.
Well, if I'm really down, I listen to the music of Michael Jackson (They Don't Care About Us, Cry, Heal The World .. ya know .. ) or Toto - Africa (biggest song ever!!!)
Sometimes Helmut Lotti, too.

when im feelin low and depressed i usually turn on something like against me, bad religion, or anti-flag. music that freaks out on society because i love to blame society! of course, the cure can get me doing anything. make me happy, sad, loving, hating, depressed, anything.
but not only that, playing music always gives me power. if im completely out of it, ill go pick up my guitar, and start playing anything. this always brings me back into reality.

Really cheesey Beastie Boy raps are great... like Brass Monkey... etc.
the Beatles have some great tracks too, mostly their earlier, naiver stuff is upbeat...
Daft Punk's one more time (embarrassing I know...)
erm... most things that have a happy, upbeat tempo and melody really.

when I'm depressed I usually listen to something that's even more depressing...
Arab Strap's Malcolm Middleton has a solo cd, 5:14 Alcohol John Nicotine Seagull (or something like that), which is enormously depressing, nearing the pathetic sometimes, but still very good... Perry Blake, Ben Christophers, Moondog Jr., Elliott Smith do the trick as well...
