I think the photo of John on the White Album is the ultimate hippie-cool look. If only my hair woulda laid that straight in '69. I'm tellin' you...the male obsession with hair during that time cannot be over-estimated. And you had to dress poor to achieve the proper level of "hipness." And be as expressionless as possible...and rude. Very uncool to be polite.

Yeah, he looked pretty stoned in those White Albums photos,, but more heroin stoned then marijuana stoned, if that makes any sense...

We had a guy on my hall in college. He would sit expressionless and hardly say a word. Great hair. We all thought he was the coolest dude just sitting there thinking deep thoughts. Turns out his brain was fried. He's in a mental institution to this day.

Wait a minute. The "flower children" types were very polite...but they could be quite expressionless, and of course they often dressed poor by both choice and necessity.

Anyway, Lennon's really running away with this poll, and for good reason. Those glasses...you just don't get any more "hippie" than "John Lennon's Glasses"!
