I missed out the s, in Spaces Revisited in my original post.

You could almost say Nels Cline 'Interstellar Space Revisited' is also a fusion effort.

I could make this easy and just make a top 10 by Miles.

Without Miles it gets close to impossible. I really don't consider Zappa's recordings to be Fusion. The same with Soft Machine. Otherwise we can throw in King Crimson, Steely Dan, Chicago and others. But the Zappa and Soft Machine recordings are excellent.

Ok 6 non-Miles recordings for you, but nevertheless still heavily influenced by the Prince of Darkness. With 3 more added on, I did say that this was a thread, I could be concise with.

Mahavishnu Orchestra- The Inner Mounting Flame
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
Al Di Meola - Elegent Gypsy
Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters
Larry Coryell - Spaces
Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius

Tony Williams - Emergency!
Stanley Clarke - School Days
Weather Report - Mysterious Traveller

I am somewhat suprised that Miles' Live Evil didn't make any lists. As well as a few other of the live recordings. I am really looking forward to when the rest of the Cellar Door recordings that the music from Live Evil came from is finally released.

That's why the thread includes Fusion and Jazz-Rock.

I've always interpreted Fusion to include Jazz groups that incorporate Rock rhythms/instrumentation as a support to their improvisations, while Jazz-Rock represented rock bands who incorporate Jazz rhythms/instrumentation into their playing. Basically, one is more on the Jazz side of the equation, the other on the Rock side...

...correct me if I'm wrong.

That is quite correct.

I'm trying to listen to more jazz of late, but I've not gotten into it too well and I think bands which incorporate rock into them would be way to go. Of the acts mentioned, aside from Miles, I've only listened to Mahavishnu Orchestra's Inner Mounting Flame which I don't care for much.

Could you reccomend any acts that are more catchy, like for example Linkin Park to metal(what I mean is songs which you can get with a single listen or so). I like most metal groups which use jazz in their songs, like Ephel Duath or Farmakon or Meshuggah.

Kenny G. would be the the Linkin Park of jazz. He is also the Britney Spears, who is just one of many that can be called the Linkin Park of pop.

You can tell what all three are about in one listen.

Considering that you love Metal, this should be easy:

Naked City - Torture Garden
Painkiller - Guts Of A Virgin/Buried Secrets

Trust me, you'll like it.

Naked City & Painkiller have catchy singles and remind you of Linkin Park?

No, but I know his tastes in Metal (( which doesn't include Linkin Park )) and I think they would be fine starting points for getting into Jazz, from his perspective.
