personally i think its a joke. The list is more of a popularity contest than a judgement of skill.

My complaints:

Keith Richards, Kurt Cobain, and Kirt Hammet all higher than Jerry Garcia? And Jack White only four places behind? He doesnt even belong on the list, let alone in the same breath as Jerry.

There is no way in hell Trey Anastasio should be as high as 73, Jack White, Cobain, and Hammet couldnt play half of the songs he's written.

I could write pages on whats wrong with this list but instead...

Agreement:

I love to see Duane Allman in the top 10 but i dont know about 2. And i would have thought that Robert Randolph would have been overlooked but hes on there.

Thoughts, agreements, complaints, anyone?

I respect Cobain and all but...100 of all time? Doubt it...chances are not even in the 1000's range. I do think Jack Whites pretty good too, but not that close to 1. Also I think that Jonny Greenwood is more than 1 place ahead of Ed O'Brien.

My thoughts anyway

This list must be based on style, inovation and passion when playing as well as technical ability. Kurt Cobain, Johnny Ramone and Jack White all in the top 20 of all time. I love those guys and what they do but top 20 guitarists of all time??? I think I am about as good as johnny ramone, well not really but you know what i mean.

I agree, I feel it is an outrage to rank Eddie Van Halen 70 and Gilmour 82. They had two of the top ten best guitar solos, and they did so much for their own bands that they deserve much more credit. Also, I think Neil Young may have been underranked. Unbelievable...

I am not going to feign mock outrage at a poll like this. Gilmour at #82 and BB King at #3 is all I need to know about the idiots at Rolling Stone.

BTW, i'd definitely put Kirk Hammett before Jerry Garcia.
