What kind of stuff do you like now? Do you enjoy sporting events? What attracts you to jazz? What's your drink of choice?

she's quite universal and well-noted in jazz, but I do love Ella Fitzgerald... she's the one recommendation I can offer right now.

ihateyou, we already have threads for this

http://www.radiomute.com/musicthread11654.html

But besides that, we're discussing artists all over this forum...just pick anything and it'll be recommended by somebody!

But given your love of metal, you might like Avant/Free Jazz...try Eric Dolphy's "Out To Lunch", Peter Brotzmann's "Machine Gun" and Cecil Taylor's "Silent Tongues" for starters...

Considering the amount of Jazz that's out there, that's quite a statement...there is waaay more to Jazz than what's covered in his catalogue...not that it's not great.
