Question The Public Enemy Poll

I just felt that there should be a poll covering the primary releases of Public Enemy, perhaps the greatest rap group of all time (( at least, I think so... ))

Personally, trying to decide between "It Takes A Nation Of Millions...", "Fear Of A Black Planet", and "Apocalypse 91..." is almost impossible, so I'm going to have to get back to this later.

yup.
I took "Fear of a Black Planet" even though my heart says "it takes a nation of millions.." (which has the splank-tastic "night of the living baseheads" on it.)

On "Fear.." they just got it right. the sound the attitude the lyrics...
both discs are among my very favorites of the period.

It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Fear Of A Black Planet
Yo! Bum Rush The Show

I once took my mother and aunt to a PE.

An excellent performance. The only rap group that I have seen that was any good live.

I think we might have been the only non African American's in the crowd.

Damnit, who haven't you seen?

Just because you're twice the age of most of us doesn't mean you have to rub it in so damn much.

At any rate, the only rap group I'd be interested in seeing live is The Roots...

Are your aunt and mother as open to music as you? (( as in, how did they enjoy the show? ))

First I don't believe I was rubbing it in that I saw them or anyone else live. The thread just made me think of that incident. It's posts like this that start the rumors of my being a superior prick.

And while I am twice the age of a few of you (even than it's only biologically speaking), I would like to clearly point out that I am still younger than several others.

These days there isn't any rap act that I want to see live.

And there have been a great many musicians/groups that I have not seen live. The main reason being I wasn't alive or old enough at the time, but that is beside the point.

I know, it just makes me feel better to harass you now and then, as I'm just terribly jealous of you and your position of having actually been alive during the '60s/'70s...

Anyway...what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Public Enemy, right!

I went with Nation of Millions. To be honest, I dont really know any of their other stuff. Anyways. I'm sure its still a good album. I think Chuck D has the coolest voice of any rapper ive ever heard.
