Their new album is just diferent.. I've been listening to it more. and I feel like it's more versatile.. Where as I listened the the first album when I was sad or feeling mellow.... the second one corresponds to more, I think..

As for comparing them to Radiohead. Someone said that they're simlar to Radiohead, but not so psycadelic. and I think I agree with that.

I think people compare them also because they both come form the UK and they play the same intruments, although Coldplay's popular songs do sound a bit similar to Radiohead's older tunes!

Hmm. I think my comment just confused me a bit!

Thumbs up coldplay

i think i disagree with two assertions here:
i) i find the comparison of coldplay with radiohead a little meaningless. as qwerty defended that they use (or used to use until kid a) similar instruments, and some coldplay tracks in parachutes carry signs that they were influenced some early radiohead tracks. Both posses psychedelic tunes but in a completely distinct frequency. i say coldplay is coldplay and RH is RH anyhow..
ii) i find the comparison of "parachutes" with "a rush of blood to the head" a little meaningless
why must something better than the previous or whatever.
i've seen this comparison with Pablo Honey before. I agree that nobody could tell Radiohead would become what it is from it. But it had much more potential than Parachutes. And Radiohead in their second album upgraded. I've just seen Coldplay doing ballads after and trying to be cute all the time.
iii) this is xtra what i disagree:
it is a very bad idea to open a thread about coldplay on the pop-page where britney, christina, etc are discussed !!!

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are

1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn

in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.

I disagree on your second statement... It's not meaningless to compare those two albums... or any two albums for that matter. It's music... and it's perfectly legit for listeners to compare, contrast, interpret, and/or analyze or whatever. It's very interesting seeing how music affects people and their different views on it.

Coldplay have changed direction with Rush. It's nowhere near as claustrophobic and, in my opinion, better for it. I can see the Radiohead connections but they can't match Radiohead's attention to detail in that classic prog-rock stylee. They still rock, though. Shiver is my favourite from parachutes.

Pop boy band? Coldplay?
shiver, sparks spiesand have good intro's. Mind you most Coldplay songs do: they're a quality band. They're hardly a "boy band" though (if you're meaning bands like N-Sync or Westlife, who are for the record diabolical in the very literal sense of the word).
