"Pet Sounds" vs. "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"
I thought this would make an interesting poll...both were hugely influential towards introducing elements of "serious" music to rock and pop, and are still regarded today as some of the greatest rock records ever...so which would you pick over the other?

OK, I voted for Sgt. Pepper because I had to vote for something to get to see the results (and Pepper is, I guess, my "sentimental favorite" of the two)...but this is really too difficult. Both albums are so important, and so influential, and so great. At this point in my life, I truly see them as equal works of art.

Without Pet Sounds there wouldn't have been a Sgt. Peppers. Both bands were influencing and competing against each other for a couple years. That is until Brian Wilson had his meltdown. I prefer Sgt. Peppers, but I love Pet Sounds.
Didn't Ringo just recently become the first Beatle to become 64?

I went with "Pet Sounds." I love the Beatles and "Pepper" is a tremendous work, but to my ears it sounds stuck within its' time...a paen to the sixties, but very much OF the sixties. "Pet Sounds" on the other hand sounds completely fresh every time I listen to it...and I continue to hear new things after all these years. Also, the themes of goofy teenage innocence, misguided adolescent optimism and romanticism expressed in "Pet" seem more enduring, universal and poignant for me than the "blow your mind" ,surrealistic themes expressed in Pepper.

I voted for Pepper, but both are among the best albums of their time. Pet Sounds is an incredible album.

As Satchmo said, Pepper was influenced by Pet Sounds (and Pet Sounds by earlier Beatles albums, and so on),,, but to me this one is not even close... Sgt. Pepper is better in my opinion... Pet Sounds is very good, but not as good as Sgt. Pepper...
I have to admit I am surprised by the poll at this point, I have always felt people overrated Pet Sounds, but I am glad to see they haven't in this small poll sampling...

A part of me wanted desperately to vote for Pet Sounds just because I knew Sgt. Pepper would run away with it...but it wouldn't have been honest of me. But like others have said, I love both albums. And in all honesty, neither album sounds more "timeless" to me. They are both very much products of their era, to my ears. But "datedness" never bothers me with 60s music, because I love the music of the 60s and that stuff will never be "dated" to me...a part of me still very much lives in that time.
